Marina di Scarlino - With over 2 million units sold in more than a decade, 112,000 in Italy, the 1 Series is back with a new identity well defined and in line with the objectives of the Bavarian brand.  But let a little 'history The first-generation 5-door in 2004, 3-door and Coupé in 2007 and convertible in 2008; second generation in 2012, 3/5 doors, x drive and M235.

Departing from Marina di Scarlino, a corner of paradise in the Tuscan coast, we sported the new look of the small compact BMW and appreciated the dynamic qualities of the new power units modular three- and four-cylinder petrol and diesel. In particular, boarded the 116d, three-cylinder 1.5-liter, leaving behind me the small harbor, I penetrated in the Tuscan countryside; from here along the curves that mark some hills, I was able to push a little bit more this new engine to 190 horsepower and 180 Nm of torque. It's not the most brilliant of the diesel available but it proved very quiet, ensures a smooth ride, but fun especially consumption and emissions ( 3.4 L / 100 km and 89 g / km of CO2).

Design

Fruit of the creativity of the designer Calvin Luk, the baby of the house BMW arrives in 2015 with a look completely renewed in ways that involves hitting the front, the sides and the rear and provided with new engines with three cylinders.  You can not talk about restyling but new version ready to replicate the success achieved since its debut in the market. Even the bumpers have been revised, vary depending on the version, now more aggressive and classic chrome rings in the fitting and the end most shaped ones sports. I move to the side to watch the side that keeps the clean and elegant from cuopé compact and go on to the rear taillights with new design of LED light beams leaking elements square to give it a more elongated shape L as the older sisters 3 Series and 6 Series.

Interiors and technology

Let's start with the new 116i petrol, a 1.5 three-cylinder 109 hp and 180 Nm of torque, the 118i and 120i four-cylinder 1.6 respectively from 136 and 177 hp and the 125i equippagiata by a 2-liter, 218 hp and 310 Nm. and finally the 3.0 inline six-cylinder available in the most extreme variant the M135i, which reaches a maximum power of 326 hp and 450 Nm.  Alternatively you can choose the diesel engines that include the 116d, a 1.5 three-cylinder 116 hp and 270 nm and the new 2-liter four-cylinder 118d available in 150 hp, 190 hp in the 120d and 225d of 224 hp. The transmission is a six-speed manual or eight-speed Steptronic (standard on 125d, 120d xDrive and M135 xDrive).  All engines can be coupled with the 6-speed manual transmission and the automatic 8-speed Steptronic. This ensures lower consumption and better performance and is fitted as standard on the M135i xDrive 120d Enel as an option in the engine 125i, 135, 120d xDrive, 125d.

The automatic transmission is associated with the date Navigation Controller that knowing the path helps the driver to adopt a more environmentally friendly.

Prices

From 23,100 euro of the 3-door 116i petrol (800 € plus the 5-door) to EUR 48,500 for the top version of the M135i xDrive all-wheel drive version.
